Eavesdropping ; Book Love

The other day while I was going about my business at work I overheard a snippet of an awesome conversation.

A girl is with her friend looking through the Summer books by Jenny Han. She’s holding a copy of We’ll Always Have Summer and leafing through it as she is explaining the story line to her friend. Suddenly, she interrupts herself and starts to exclaim loudly:

“OH MY GOSH. THIS COPY HAS LETTERS BETWEEN BELLY AND CONRAD! MY COPY DOESN’T HAVE THIS.”

Girl ignores the friend she was originally talking to and frantically flipping pages. “THIS IS SOOOOO COOL.”

I like it when people freak out about awesome things.

Four Months, Four Books

Hey! This is my fourth month up and running! Because of that, I’m going to list the top four books I’ve reviewed that I LOVE. It’s weird to think I’ve been doing this for four months. I know it’s a short time, but it feels strangely long! I started the blog for a few reasons, one of them being I like books. A lot. Also, sharing the books I love so much makes all the reading I do feel more productive. This blog has also been good for my memory and for trying to do new things. I’m still not settled into a schedule and not covering everything that I want to yet (I’m not sure what that even entails!) but regardless, I’ve been having a ton of fun working on this blog and exploring all the fantastic book blogs out there.

If there is anything you’d like to see more of here, please, please, please let me know and I can see what I can do.

Now, onto my top four!

Stolen: A Letter to my Captor
by Lucy Christopher

This book still just blows my mind away. The intimate letter format, the emotional roller coaster, the beautiful yet harsh setting? Oh, my goodness.  What a book.
My review.

The Summer I Turned Pretty
by Jenny Han

This is the epitome of a good summer book. It has wonderful boys, sand, a beach house, memories, rainy days in bed watching old movies– it’s pretty much my dream summer. Plus, Conrad is my favorite ever.
My review.

Some Girls Are
by Courtney Summers

I hadn’t read Courtney Summers before this year, and I have to thank book bloggers for this author! I saw reviews for her books everywhere, which made me curious about this woman I hadn’t even heard of before. She writes great strong female characters struggling their way through high school. I put Cracked Up to Be in my top four because I loved reading Regina’s road to liking herself.
My review.

Stay
by Deb Caletti

I love how this book is saturated with Clara’s voice– it is without a doubt her story. The content kept me on my toes and I love the pacing of how everything was told.
My review.

I wonder what the next four months will bring!
